March Madness Birchbox!

I'm writing this later than I would normally since it's the first day of March Madness.
These are the four days that I knew were "off limits" when I married Handsome Husband.
He loves this weekend more than any other sports weekend of the year.

So, while he is off watching basketball games I am chillaxing at home.
(I think today was just one of those days...all 4 second grade teachers were gone by 3:45.)

It's been one year since I decided to order Birchbox each month.
I have been happy most of the time.
(No one can be happy EVERY time.)

1)  This shampoo was a freebie in this month's box.
It was meh...I'm not a fan of shampoo freebies since I only have them in my hair for a second.
It smelled good though!
I've been wanting to try this brand (since I always walk past the end-of-the-row display whenever I'm in Target) but haven't because of the expense.
I don't know that I would spend $14 on this shampoo since I just recently found a cheeper, sulfate-free shampoo that I really like.

2)  Since I usually use the Schick Intuition razor I don't have any need for shaving cream.
However, I am traveling to LA, Charleston, and Maine soon so having something a bit more portable (like this sample) is nice.
(That being said...I haven't tried it yet since I'm saving it for my trips.)

3)  I really like this conditioner.
I have always been a fan of good conditioners since I color my hair a lot and it's usually pretty dry.
I would definitely buy this conditioner (if I were able to spend that much on conditioner).

4)  I was SUPER excited about this eyeliner until the tip broke off and fell down the drain while I was trying to use it.
Seriously??
I had already done one!
Grouchifying.
I love the color but have found the same color in cheaper versions (whose tips didn't break off!).

5)  I was a bit hmm, uhh, meh about the nail file.
I have about a million nail files hanging around my house, car and desk.
The one thing that I really liked was the clear plastic case.
I was able to toss it in my purse without worrying that everything else would get "filed".

6)  I REALLY like this facial cleanser.
The buffing beads feel effective, yet gentle.
This brand didn't feel like it was going to slough off 3 layers of my skin with every use.
This is something I would DEFINITELY purchase.

The only thing I was bummed about was that this was the first box where I didn't get a perfume sample!
Bummer...
I got birthday money from Birchbox from my sister-in-law and am planning on using it toward a new perfume.
So excited!!

Did you get anything you loved in your Birchbox?

February Birchbox Review

This month's Birchbox theme was "Red Carpet Ready".

Here's the run-down:

1.  These WEI Pomegranate Buffing Beads were the "Beauty Extra" in my box this month.
I liked that I could add them to my normal facial cleanser to make it a scrub!
If I traveled a lot these would make a fantastic addition to my travel kit because of their easy portability and non-liquid state (so that I would have more room for all of the other junk I always bring when I travel).
At home, however, I forget that I have them because, seriously, I'm not going to store them in the shower and am a bit of a space-cadet at barely-5-am in the morning.
Other than that, I like them!

2.  One of my most favorite things about my monthly Birchboxes is that I get a new perfume monthly.
I was excited to get this Couture La La by Juicy Couture perfume.
It tends to be a bit heavy so I apply it sparingly, but I really like the scent.

3.  Luckily, I had a three-day weekend right after getting my box, so I was able to take the time to actually use the WEI mud mask that was included.
The description says that each pod is enough for a single use, but I found that it was more than enough...like, enough for 3 uses.
That's not a bad thing, but since the lid was a foil-peel-back type I couldn't reseal the container.
Bummer.
I applied it and chilled with a book for a while before washing it off.
With some mud masks you have to just about scrub the top layer of your skin off in order to get the mask off but not with this one.
It washed off easily and left my skin feeling refreshed.

4.  I love getting hair products in my boxes and TIGI is one of my favorite brands.
I have played around with this Catwalk dry shampoo a bit.
I liked the piecey look it gave my hair, but with my hair being so short it seemed to go away quickly.
I prefer a wax or pomade to style my hair when it's short.
Maybe I'd feel differently if my hair was still long.

5.  I've gotten this Jouer tinted moisturizer a few times in my boxes.
Maybe I have enough now to actually try it!
The sizes are so stinking small that it is hard to truly know if I like it.

6.  This was a nice little bonus to get in my box!
It barely made it through the pictures!

Do you get Birchbox?
If so, what did you get in yours this month??

January Birchbox

One of my favorite emails to receive is "Your Birchbox has shipped."
Once I get that awesome piece of electronic wordage I come into the house each night with my eyes peeled for that fantabulous pink box.

I figured that it would be here on Friday...
Saturday...
Monday...????

Monday!  Best. Day. Ever.
(Just kidding. :))

So, after I ripped it open with my teeth cut it open all lady-like and such, I had to check out all of my new swag.

Here's a picture of my new "lady-swag".

I got these finger mitts by Deborah Lippmann for nail polish removal.
I don't usually wear nail polish since I constantly have my fingers in my mouth, gnawing them into oblivion don't have time to paint them and the paint comes off very easily.
Let's see if I can keep my teeth off of them and get to use these suckers soon!

I received this deliciously citrusy scent from Harvey Prince called Skinny Chic.
I wore it this morning and was reminded that winter doesn't last forever.
This is the perfect light, spring/summer scent.

During a trip to the mall last weekend with my mom I decided to buy a liquid foundation for the first time in 4 or 5 years.
I have been a Bare Minerals girl.
I've been struggling with my skin looking super dry (which is NOT normal).
I'm not sure if it's that the consistency is different or the fact that I use a sponge or WHATEVER, but my skin looked great after using this Multi-Purpose Mattifying Moisturizer by My today.
It went on smoothly and helped my foundation go on smoothly as well.
I'm not sure that I'd buy it regularly because of the price, but I'll take almost anything that's free!

Isn't this CUH-UTE??!!!
This is a two-in-one blush and highlighter by theBalm cosmetics called Hot Mama.
It's a great peachy-pink that warms up my complexion.

I tried this shampoo tonight.
It smelled great but was a bit too thin for my taste.
I tend to like a thicker shampoo since I have a lot of daily build-up.
I probably wouldn't buy this for myself.

Overall, I'm happy with my Birchbox this month.
Do you receive Birchbox??
If so, what did you get this month?

December Birch Box

I've been getting Birchbox deliveries for almost a year now and I have to say that I get more than a little excited when I see that hot pink box waiting for me when I get home.

My goodies.

This Cartier perfume has an amazingly pure lily scent.

They also included a sample of the mens scent.  Handsome Husband smells wicked yummy in this. :)

I received some CC (color control) cream by Juice Beauty.  It seems similar to a BB Cream but I haven't had the chance to use it yet.  We shall see!
(I have slathered it on the back of my hand, which felt wicked moisturized, and noticed that it smells fantabulous.)

I am excited to try these Frownies Eye Gels.  One thing I'm not so excited about is that even though you can get a few uses out of them it seems a bit messy.

I'm very excited to try this new Nick Chavez shampoo.  I've been a bit of a product schizophrenic lately and could use a new shampoo that promises loads of volume.
(I don't truly need any volume since my hair is like, 2 inches long, but what girl doesn't dream of gorgeous waves cascading down her back???!!)

I was pretty psyched to see this full-size Model Colip gloss in the Birchbox this month.
I have a bit of an obsession with lip gloss, lip stick and lip balm.
I have around 4 on me at any given time.

Do you get Birchbox??  If not, you should check it out.
