High 5 for Friday 8.9.13

1.  I had the privilege of going to see Maroon 5 with two of my besties this past weekend.
I. Had. So. Much. Fun.
Handsome Husband commented that he doesn't know if he's ever seen me laugh that hard before.
We seriously had tears rolling the entire night.

2.  I have been prepping to go back to school this week so HH has been preparing dinner.
I was particularly fond of Wednesday's dinner. :)
It's such a great feeling knowing that my partner in life supports me when I am overwhelmed.
However, I'm worried that once he goes back to school as well we might starve!

3.  My room is put together!
I made a few changes and additions to it this year.
I was going to take some photos for a room tour post, but didn't get to it.
Next week!

4.  I am back in the thick of things as of this morning.
I currently have 24 new nuggets, but could easily be at 25 on Monday.
All in all it was a pretty great day.
I'll be writing about it next week...sometime...

5.  Since my corporation hasn't outlawed personal fridges yet (and because the baby needs ICE water and yogurt) I went out and picked up a new one to share with my coworker.
It's gigantic!  (As far as personal fridges go...)
I LOVE that it has a separate freezer.
I can fit a ton of ice in there!
Happy baby.

I hope you also had a great week!

High 5 for Friday! 8.2.13

Woot woot for Friday!
Boo hoo for my last Friday before school starts on Monday.

1.  I have crocheted my brains out this week.  I have made 8 hats, 7 decorative flowers and zero progress on putting my granny square quilt together.
I have a few more hats to make for some friends.
I LOVE the easy patterns I have found over at Sarah's blog.

2.  I have loved doing the crossword puzzle each day this summer.
I'm sure going to miss it when school starts.

3.  I went into my classroom for the first time all summer and made a little headway.
Simply putting my desks where they belong made a HUGE difference.

4.  I got my polish on today.
I don't usually paint my own nails because I'm not patient enough to wait for them to dry.
However, the dealership that we got our Escape from has a manicurist on staff.
And it's free!
This may become a weekly thing until the baby comes...

5.  I had my first, true pregnancy craving this week.
I wanted chicken wings from a place we never go to.
They had to be the real deal, too.
No boneless wings for this baby.
Handsome Husband laughed at my insistence.

I hope you had a great week, too.
Please forgive me if I don't post every day since the school year is starting up and I never know what could happen!

High 5 For Friday!

Fridays don't have quite the same appeal during the summer as they do during the school year.
They simply mark that the school year is that much closer!!!
Boo.

Oh well!
Here are my top 5 from this week:

(top row, l to r)
1)  Handsome Husband and I took his parents dogs on a long walk the other day.
It was absolutely GORGEOUS!
The only problemo was that kinda stinky dogs + close quarters in the car + pregnant woman = the pregnant woman hanging out the window while moving...not the dogs.
I may have to drive separately next time...blech!

2)  I have been finding some GREAT furniture at consignment stores and garage sales this summer.
I got around to painting this dresser this week.
When it's done it will go in our kitchen to house towels, placemats, potholders, etc.
I LOVE the color.
It really pops in our kitchen.

3)  Handsome Husband and I F.I.N.A.L.L.Y. got around to eating our wedding cake topper.
We completely forgot last year, so second anniversary it was.
It was still sooooo good.
I definitely recommend Mrs. T's Bakery for your wedding cake and other occasions.

(bottom row, l to r)
4)  I painted the future nursery this week!
I love the color.
It's neutral without being grey, yellow or green.

5)  I moved my dresser while painting and found the message that my mom had "written" to me when we painted the dresser after we rescued it from the side of the road way back when.
I love finding old memories like that.

6)  Handsome Husband ADORED his anniversary meal.
We went to a local restaurant where he ordered the "Sword of John Adams".
It consisted of a ribeye, quarter chicken, and small rack of ribs.
So cool!
(I love the look on his face!!!)

I hope your week was great, too!

High Five for Freakin Friday: 5.10.13

Oh.  Emm.  Gee.
My nuggets are KILLING ME.
It's like we are back in August.
All the procedures I've taught them have been forgotten.
Thankfully, it's Friday and no one is going to judge me if I have a glass of wine before I head to spin class.

Here are my top 5:
check out some more here

1.  I'm eating carbs again and loving it.

2.  I spent some time swinging with my nuggets yesterday.
I forgot how fun that is!

3.  My school's secretary had a humorous way to ensure that people wouldn't steal her pens.

4.  After a crappy couple of days I took my well-behaved nuggets outside for some Uno and laughter.
They deserved it.
A grass fight ensued.

5.  My principal informed us today that we can wear jeans for the rest of the year!
That's 12 days of denim goodness.
That means more days like this:

I hope you have had a great week!

Mrs. B

High Five for Friday: 5.3.13

1.  I had to stay at my parent's house last night.
Some people may not consider that awesome, but I do.
I loved living at home and I love to return home.
I had my best night's sleep all week.
My dad has been using this joke FOR YEARS.
"My friends call me Banana because I have appeal."
(A peel...get it??!)

2.  I tried the "Unwich" version of the Beach Club from Jimmy Johns last night, too.
Holy-cow-unvelievable-crunchy-goodness-sans-bread.
I may splurge and get the bread occasionally, but I now know that it's not necessary.

3.  I am super excited to hang with Brit tomorrow night.
A Moulin Rouge! dance party may occur.
We will have plenty of yarn for twirling.

4.  I found my jewelry for Lindsay's wedding!
I can't wait to get my dress back and play dress up on her big day.
I get to celebrate her wedding tomorrow at a shower.
Yay for weddings!
She confessed to having full-on "bride brain".

5.  I have 17 days of school left.
Holy crap.
Where did the time go?

Have a great weekend!

High Five for Friday 4.26.13

What an exhausting week!
I've been a bad blogger this week.
I have had zero energy and motivation...maybe because I needed it all for this weekend.
I'm in the process of painting my stair risers.

Here are my top 5 from this week.

They like it!
They really like it!

I'm seeing progress on my granny square quilt.

I grow one stinking daisy (well, keep it alive) and think that I can grow herbs, too.
We shall see.

I went to a cooking show with my mom and a friend at a local college.
It was like being able to smell the cooking channels.
Yummo!

My stairs are a work in progress.
I got all of the sanding and priming done today.
I.  am. exhausted.
My shoulder is killing me, too!
The payoff is going to be totally worth it, though.

I hope your week was great, too!

High Five for Friday! 4.19.13

Confession...I totally had to look at a calendar to make sure that I was putting the correct date in the title of today's post.
Gah!
I've been terrible at that lately.
I have had to go into at least one post a week to fix that for the past month.
And I'm not talking the year either...the DAY, man!
I'm losing my mind...

Onto the fun from this week!

1.  Handsome Husband and I bought a new car!
It's a 2010 Ford Escape and so fun to drive!
I thought that buying a new car would be fun and exciting with a little bit of holy-crap-I-just-signed-my-life-away mixed in.
I was wrong.
I'll tell more about that later.

2.  One of my nuggets had trouble spelling this week and gave me a giggle.
She has apparently renamed the bra.
I think the name is rating appropriate!

3.  I got a haircut this week.
I'm thinking that a side-by-side with my mother may be in order because we now have the same hair.

4.  I did a wine and canvas with the girls from my book club this week.
I love going to these events, but can only justify so many...
I don't have enough space to hang them!

5.  My friend Andrea is in town this weekend!!!!!!!!!
I only get to see her once every few months (if that) because she lives in Ohio...
But not for long!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Yay!
I can't wait for our usual Sunday morning breakfast tradition!

Have a great weekend!

High Five for Friday: 4.12.13

1.  We are buying a new car!
It's SEXY.
I can't wait to share pictures after we pick it up on Tuesday!
Photo from here.

2.  I found an earring that I thought I lost while flying back from LA last week!
When we were boarding our plane in Chicago I realized that I was missing one of my earrings.
I could have died.
It's my favorite pair!
Perfectly neutral while being a bit dangly.
Ideal for every day wear.
Then, this morning I was getting ready to leave when I happened to glance at my bedside table.
There it was staring back at me!
I let loose a whoop and a holler...and made Handsome Husband think that I lost my mind.
Yay for Friday!

3.  Handsome Husband and I have NOTHING planned for this weekend.
I'm sleeping.
A lot.

4.  My nuggets were awesomely generous this week.
They decided to donate a pizza party they had won to another class in the school since we were already having one on Monday.
How great is that?!

5.  Have you seen this video?
It was great to see these big, bad football players having such fun!

High Five for Friday! 4.5.13

I have had a FANTABULOUS week here in LA.
I am not looking forward to heading back to Indiana tonight.
Temperature-wise it doesn't look too bad, but I'm going to miss the sun.
I guess I'm also going to have to stash my flip-flops away again for a little while. :(

Here are my top 5!

Handsome Husband and I made it through flying without killing each other.
Our flights out had some drama attached to them, but it ended up just fine.

We went to Universal Studios on Monday.
I love the Jaws movies and I thought this photo was pretty funny.
The rides were great!

I've loved hanging out with this family this week.
It's too bad that they are all the way out here.
Looks like we will need to start saving our money for another trip!

HH and I hung out at Newport Beach yesterday.
I definitely got some sun.
We laid out in the sun for a bit and then went on an EXTREMELY uneventful whale-watching ride.
Oh well...what can you do?
Being on the water was nice and relaxing, though!

We went to a Dodgers game on Tuesday.
Dodgers stadium is my 8th ball park.
HH and I have a wish to get to them all at some point.

How was your week?
Great as well I hope!
Check out the other high-fivers here

We fly back tonight so that we can get back to the real world on Monday.

High Five for Friday!

Holy tired Friday, Batman.
This has felt like the longest week ever!
I could have just put my head down and taken a nap at any point.
Thank heavens it's the last Friday I have to endure before spring break!

Here are some high points:
(check out some others here)

I think the biggest high point was that I turned 29 this week!
I officially can say that I'm in my final year of this decade.
Whoa.

1)  I used my granny squares to give a talk on perseverance.
My nuggets requested that we keep them up so they can see the progression.

2)  I wore flowers in honor of Spring!
Can't it just feel like it already??

3)  I am heading over to a friends house to hang with my team from school to celebrate our birthdays.
Out of the 6 people on our team, 4 of us have birthdays in March.
Crazy I tell you!

4)  I decided to give my nuggets "expert words" this week and it has worked out FANTASTICALLY!
I can't wait to share more with you next week!

5)  I am headed to Kalamazoo to celebrate Lindsay's bachellorette party!
We are going to get our paint on!
Follow me on Twitter (J_Bod23) and Instagram (lilpasteeater) if you want to see some of the shenanigans.

I hope you had a great week and have a relaxing weekend!

High Five for Friday! 3.15.13

Woo hoo!!!!!!
I'm very excited it's Friday!
I had a blast last weekend at the women's retreat, but I am looking forward to being in my own space this weekend.
Here is a recap of this week's best...
(more found here)

1.  I made this clover scarf for a Notre Dame women's basketball fan.
The guy who ordered it (for his wife) was one of my regulars at my pre-teaching job.
He was affectionately called Big Papa (aka Kevin).

2.  I attempted my very first granny square last night.
Not too bad if I may say so myself.
I'm still REALLY bad at starting new colors.
(Plus, you can't see all of the string tails that I am clutching in my hand.)

3. I picked up some yarn at a local boutique for my friend's ring bearer pillow.
I am NOT EVEN CLOSE TO KIDDING when I say that this could quite possibly be my drug of choice.
This yarn is the softest I have ever felt.
It is also TOP quality (read: expensive).
This picture shows what $90.00 of yarn looks like.
I went to Michael's, got the same quantity and spent $40.00.
I kind of want to roll around in this stuff and rub it all over me...but I won't
I just bought this much to give her some choices.
I wish I could keep it all, but I don't know if I'm good enough...yet.

4.  My Keurig decided to crap out on me on Tuesday night.
Go figure that my 5 year old Gevalia 12-cup still works perfectly.
One great thing about using a regular coffee pot is that I wake up to freshly brewed coffee and get to save the five minutes that it usually takes me to get the other coffee ready.
(I use a refillable K-cup, so it takes a little longer...)
I'm still undecided on whether or not to get a new one.

5.  I was more than a little excited to see that these curvy models are being used at H&M overseas.
I am sick of seeing stick figures displaying clothing that is supposedly going to fit me.
Chyeah...right.
I like big butts and I cannot lie...

Handsome Husband is taking me for a nice birthday dinner tonight.
Steak...I'm excited!

What is something great that happened to you this week?

Mrs. B

Thank Heaven It's Friday!

What. A. Week.
This week just felt physically heavy for some reason.
But, now it's the weekend so it's time to party!

I am spending the weekend at my mom's house for a women's retreat.
I'm very excited to hang out with some awesome women.

Here's my High Five for Friday:
(Check out the others here.)

1.  I stepped out of my box this week.
I am not super confident in my skinny jeans since I am a bit chunky, but I felt pretty good in my skinnies with my Converse sneaks.
My girl nuggets told me I looked cute.

 2.  This is the DISASTROUS text that my mother sent the man who plowed her driveway the other day.
Yeah...
She's never met him and then sends him this by accident.
I laughed so hard I cried while driving to school.
Her advice:
1.  Always wear your glasses when texting.
2.  Always make sure that you're sending it to the right person.

 3.  Our Tim McGraw tickets came in the mail this week!
Woot woot!

4.  I got these cute buckets at Target (Tar-jay) the other night.
I LOVE rainbows and bright colors, so these were right up my alley.
Thank you dollar bin.

5.  Apparently my friend L thought that Tar-jay was the name of one of my nuggets!
Too funny.
See, it's been a long week.

How has your week been?
Anything fun or interesting happen?

High 5 For Friday!

It's Friday, Friday.  Gotta get down on Fridaaaaayyyy.
(I'm totally singing as I write...)

I'm linking up with Lauren here to celebrate the start of the weekend.

1.  Handsome Husband got me a new subscription to US Weekly!
I don't care one iota about anything in here, but it is fantastic mindless fodder for a Friday night.

 2.  I got these fantabulous new slippers in the mail this week.
They are from Urban Outfitters.

3.  Lauren retweeted his hilarious (and SO TRUE) tweet.
They are so unnecessary...

4a. My nuggets get into the weirdest situations...
He got his finger stuck in his shoelace!
He discovered that all he had to do was STOP PULLING!
He inadvertently created his own Chinese finger trap.

4b.  From one nugget to another while in library today: "You know, So-and-so, you have an awful lot to say.  Could you give us a break?"
Oh.
My.
 Heart.
If that isn't the pot calling the kettle black I don't know what is!

5.  It's March, which means that it's my birthday month!
I turn 29 on the 19th...
Holy cow...
29...
I'm still chewing on that.
However, just because I'm going to be almost 30 doesn't mean that I can't celebrate the whole month!
I also picked up this wicked cute desktop calendar from Ruche.

Have a great weekend!

High 5 for Friday! 2.22.13

What is it about a 4-day work week that makes it feel exponentially longer?
We even had a 2-hour delay today!

Here are my top 5 highlights of the week:
(check out all of the other link-ups here)

High-five 1:  I devoured some books last weekend!
I barely got to read this week but felt totally sated.

High-five 2:  Some nuggets and I worked on a puzzle today.
Neither of them STOPPED TALKING THE WHOLE TIME!
That's ok, though.
It's always nice to have time with my nuggets when I'm not trying to cram stuff into their brains.

High-five 3:  I discovered a flat tire after some time out with coworkers.
Luckily, my coworker Laura's son was available to help me.
Thanks Michael!
He took this time to nag me about my horrid taste in movies!
Booger.

High-five 4:  I started a custom order for a friend.

High-five 5:  Handsome Husband and I enjoyed our monthly double date with our friends Lindsay and Nate.
We went to one of my favorite restaurants.
I love knowing that Lindsay and I can chat while the boys talk about random facts.

How was your week??

Laters!
