Living Room Re-do

Handsome Husband has owned the house we currently live in for 11 years or so.
This means that after many years of having a dudes-only living situation I had my work cut out for me when I moved in.
Back when we first started dating I decided that I wanted to paint SOMETHING so I decided to paint his living room.
I wanted to pick dude colors that he could live with in case the living room color lasted longer than we did.
Therefore, we ended up with this color combo...

It's not all in all a bad combo, but it wasn't working for a few reasons.
1.  The light you see is majorly enhanced by the camera flash.
The room has one window that is an outside window.
2.  I didn't know anything about paint finishes and picked a flat base instead of a satin.
The flat paint sucked all of the light from the room making it even darker.

So, I decided that it was time for a change.
I've had a few paint chips taped to the wall for a while, but just knew they weren't right.
So, I called on my mom's friend Julie of Red Door Design.
She came to the house and helped me take what I could see in my head and put it into a paint color.
(We picked out colors for a few different things, but more on that at a later date.)

We decided on Sherwin Williams Believable Buff for the living room.
Here are the after shots:

It brightens up the room sooooo much!
I love seeing how much lighter the room is when I walk by.

Now...to replace those antiquated couches!

Have you done any projects this summer?

I'm off to paint another room!

Anniversary!

Two years ago I married my Mr. Right (promoting him from "Bald Beauty" (used in my phone, not on here) to "Handsome Husband").
The days have been interesting and wonderful and filled with learning about ourselves and each other.
It still gives me little tummy-tickles to call him my husband.

We have such fond memories of our day and loved that it was truly one big party.
It rained (downright POURED) during the early parts of the day and people were worried that our outdoor, Japanese garden wedding was going to become an inside-the-reception-venue affair.
I wasn't worried one bit.
It had been a SCORCHER of a July and I "told" the weather to rain for a bit to cool the day off and stop around 3:30...guess what??
It totally did.
I'm just that good I guess. :)

I love this man more and more each day.
I love seeing his face light up when he talks about our coming addition.
I love that he does the dishes after I cook.
I love that when I ask his opinion on a decoration or change for the house he says,
"Whatever you want , babe," and means it.
I love that he lets me eat in bed even though he DESPISES it.
I love that we can be in the same room together and feel such comfort in each other's presence that we don't need to talk.
I love that we are slowly figuring out each other's strengths and weaknesses and building on them.
I love that he will eat almost anything I cook for him and give me honest feedback.
I love that he deals with bits of yarn and half-finished projects that are found all over the house.
To quote the musical Show Boat "Can't help lovin' that man of mine."

(This picture was taken right after I licked cake frosting off his beautiful bald head.  It's one of my faves!)

Bump Watch: Week 13

Well, hello there!!
Did you think I forgot about you?
I didn't...I swear...
I just haven't been up to anything superbly interesting lately (other than all of June where I traveled all but, like, 8 days...I'll post pics...promise.)
In fact, I've barely been functioning at above a wake-breathe-eat-crochet-sleep level.

Due Date?  January 17th.  Handsome Husband thinks he/she will be born on the 9th, though.

How far along?  13 weeks on Friday.

Size of baby?  He/she is the size of a lemon.

Weight gain?  5 lbs.  I've only had a twinge of nausea here and there, so I am trying to eat as normally as possible.
Since returning from our multiple jaunts around the eastern US I've also gotten back into the gym.
I REALLY missed cycling class.
Right before I got pregnant I got a Polar FT7 heart monitor...best investment EVER.
I am able to know exactly how hard I can push myself to get the best workout possible.

Maternity clothes?  Oh, totally!  My jeans still fit in the legs and all, but I couldn't button them.  Plus, it was a great time to stock up on the sale items for school clothes!

Movement?  Not yet.  He/she is still too little.

Food cravings?  In the beginning it was McDonald's french fries, but I was able to get over that thankfully!
Now, all I can think about is ice water...lots of ice water.
I go through at least a gallon of water a day and have emptied the ice maker a few times this week.

Gender?  We aren't finding out.
We think it will be more exciting!
Believe me you, thought...the anticipation is killing me already!
Don't worry, though...I'll stay strong.

Labor?  None.

Bellybutton in or out?  In.

What I miss?  Really pushing myself to my limit in a workout.
Diet Coke.
Medium cheeseburgers.
Brie.

Looking forward to...?  When I actually start to show a bump, not just residual out-of-shape-gut pooch.

All in all, I am feeling truly awesome.
I was blessed with a wicked easy first trimester (don't hate me) and other than needing a daily 2-hour nap I feel almost normal.

Have a great weekend!

Things I've Learned

Since embarking on this amazing journey I have learned some interesting things about myself and other things...

1.  All I want to eat is a COLD turkey sandwich.
But of course...that's not an option.
In the weeks prior to seeing those 2 wonderful lines I ate AT LEAST 2 turkey/avocado sandwiches a day.
Delicious.
Warm turkey sandwich...not so much.
Oh Jimmy Johns...how I miss you.

2.  Hearing that little alien-blob being's heartbeat is amazing every time.
The last time it was 179 so my bet is girl, but you never know.

3.  I've always been an eater.
My family has NEVER been good with portion control.  (Thanks, pops.)
Now, however, I am nauseated when I don't eat and when I eat too much.
There is a fine line.

The biggest difference has been that I can go from "No, I'm not hungry at all," to "Holy crap...if I don't get something to eat within the next 10 seconds I'm going to rip your arm off and eat it raw," in about 2 minutes.
I had to talk myself out of crying in a bar in Charleston when they told me that they were no longer serving food for the night.
Almost midnight + sober + starving + hormones = HOT MESS

4.  Bra shopping sucks.
Victoria's Secret no longer holds my secret.
I have been living in the one and only bra that fits and needed to buy some more.
So, I decided to head to the outlet mall near our vacation house to purchase a few more.
The poor, misguided woman helping me kind of pissed me off, though.
She brought me total GRANNY BRAS!
You know, the kind where they not only cover you chesticles but also come up to about your collar bone.

I'm pregnant and have big knockers...I'm not dead.

5.  Coffee is losing its appeal.
I am a coffee lover.
This t-shirt sums it up nicely:

The problem I'm having now is that coffee is no longer my friend.
I can make it through half a cup before I feel like I'm going to ralph on myself.
Headaches galore...blech.

6.  I hate being "the reasonable one" aka "the sober one" when we go out.
Just a few weeks after I found out I was growing a human Handsome Husband and I went to a Tim McGraw concert with some friends.
It. Was. Not. Fun.
Being the voice of reason in an unreasonable world sucks.

What did you learn?
Tips?

Blessed

Sorry for such a long absence on here!
I have a great reason...swear...

I'm growing a human!

Handsome Husband and I are so very blessed and excited.
Hopefully, I will start to get my energy back soon and be able to get my brain working again.

Until then...

Aaaaannnndddd...I'm Out!

At 3:00 this afternoon I sent my third group of second graders off into the big, bad world of summer.
It's bittersweet...emphasis on sweet...at this point.

We had a pretty good year, but I'm ready for a break and to not talk about reading and math all the time.
(Although I will...it's what I do!)

Here's a recap of what happened this week since I've been a naughty blogger and shirking my duties.

Handsome Husband and I went to a Tim McGraw concert this weekend with 6 of our friends.
We had a blast, but it was FREEZING!
Our one friend was so cold that he decided to use a sock as a mitten.

Here we are!!
I was flat-out exhausted when this picture was taken but needed a snapshot with HH!

My brother found this flashback photo last weekend.
We ended up at the same prom and decided to get a photo for mom.

I had a blast hanging with my family on Sunday.
It was a really great day.
I'm definitely blessed.

Jayders was OBSESSED with my mom's chocolate chip cookies...
as is anyone else who tries them.
Look at that face!!!!

She HATES the feeling of grass on her skin.
So, she kept trying to lift everything up.
Work those abs, girl.

I liked May's photo challenge so much that I decided to do another!

My mom totally dissed me.
I didn't want to go shopping anyway.

We had a great field day yesterday!
The kids had so much fun.
I was asleep by 7:45, though!

I realized I was naked (jewelry-wise) on the way to school.
I hate not wearing earrings.

The shelves in my classroom library decided that today was the day they would mutiny.
(And no, the big, heavy books were not on them.  They were in another cupboard on the bottom.)

I was thisclose to having my counters cleaned off until that happened.

Arg!

I got this beautiful (and nose-pleasing) gift from a nugget I shall call "O".
I'm loving the monsters he drew on the pot.

Another student got me a box of chocolate.
I devoured three within 30 seconds of the box entering my hands!
Yummo!!

However, what's the end of the year without a little bit of drama.
One of our second grade nuggets (not my class, but my teammate's) was playing soccer and, in a freak accident, came down wrong and suffered a compound fracture of his lower leg.
He was so brave and composed even though he was beyond scared and in a lot of pain.
The poor boy will be starting his summer off with surgery to have pins put in and in a cast.
He will be in my daily prayers.

High Five for My Last Friday of the School Year!

Holy guacamole!
Today is officially my last Friday of the school year!
Counting today, I have 3 days left with my nuggets.
I've had some toughies this year.

Here are my top 5 from the week:

Bwahahahahaha!
I love this picture.
I caught her mid-spit bubble.
She's getting too dang big.

My parents got a pool at the end of last summer.
I'm psyched!
Last Sunday was a scorcher, so Handsome Husband, mom and I hung by the pool.
This summer's going to be grrrreat!

My nuggets and I had an unexpected visitor on the roof outside our window this week.
Multiplication lost it's cool-factor the second they spotted him.
We got a good laugh.

I had so much fun with the photo challenge this month, so I decided to start another in June!
Yay!

Handsome Husband, six friends and I are hitting up a concert tomorrow night.
I am wicked excited!
We haven't been to a concert since The Boss in September.
I can't wait!

Have a wonderful weekend!
I know I will.
