High Five for Friday! 3.15.13

Woo hoo!!!!!!
I'm very excited it's Friday!
I had a blast last weekend at the women's retreat, but I am looking forward to being in my own space this weekend.
Here is a recap of this week's best...
(more found here)

1.  I made this clover scarf for a Notre Dame women's basketball fan.
The guy who ordered it (for his wife) was one of my regulars at my pre-teaching job.
He was affectionately called Big Papa (aka Kevin).

2.  I attempted my very first granny square last night.
Not too bad if I may say so myself.
I'm still REALLY bad at starting new colors.
(Plus, you can't see all of the string tails that I am clutching in my hand.)

3. I picked up some yarn at a local boutique for my friend's ring bearer pillow.
I am NOT EVEN CLOSE TO KIDDING when I say that this could quite possibly be my drug of choice.
This yarn is the softest I have ever felt.
It is also TOP quality (read: expensive).
This picture shows what $90.00 of yarn looks like.
I went to Michael's, got the same quantity and spent $40.00.
I kind of want to roll around in this stuff and rub it all over me...but I won't
I just bought this much to give her some choices.
I wish I could keep it all, but I don't know if I'm good enough...yet.

4.  My Keurig decided to crap out on me on Tuesday night.
Go figure that my 5 year old Gevalia 12-cup still works perfectly.
One great thing about using a regular coffee pot is that I wake up to freshly brewed coffee and get to save the five minutes that it usually takes me to get the other coffee ready.
(I use a refillable K-cup, so it takes a little longer...)
I'm still undecided on whether or not to get a new one.

5.  I was more than a little excited to see that these curvy models are being used at H&M overseas.
I am sick of seeing stick figures displaying clothing that is supposedly going to fit me.
Chyeah...right.
I like big butts and I cannot lie...

Handsome Husband is taking me for a nice birthday dinner tonight.
Steak...I'm excited!

What is something great that happened to you this week?

Follow Me On Bloglovin!

So, apparently Google tried to pull a fast one on us all and ditch the Google Reader element.
That worried me a bit!
My first thought was, "Dang it!  I don't have time for this crap."
But then, I checked out Bloglovin and realized that it was super easy to switch over!

I signed up and Bloglovin prompted me to import all of the blogs I already follow via GFC.
Score!

So, I have added a new little gadget over to the right.
Please make sure that you leave me a comment to let me know that you are a new follower!
I'm not sure if I can see who is or not and I would love to follow you back.
I'm thrilled that all that it took was the click of a mouse!

Now I can get cracking on some granny squares...

Do you have any crafty business going on?

What I'm Loving Wednesday 3.13.13

This edition of What I'm Loving Wednesday is being brought to you by a very tired teacher.
So, I guess one thing I'm loving is that Wednesday is almost over!

I'm loving that we had a two hour delay this morning.
It meant that the planning meeting with my team lasted until 12:30 instead of 11:00.
We got so much done!

I'm loving that my birthday is in less than one week!

I'm loving that I got my hair cut last night and it looks like this...
Ginnifer Goodwin...love the fade on the sides.
mixed with this...
Lovely pixie

I'm loving that my friend Lindsay asked me to try and make something like this for her wedding.
Totally going to figure this out for @Lindsay Potgiesser!!@jordanbodnar

I'm loving that I can find pins that show me outfits with things I already own...
like this polka-dot sweater.
jeans and polka dots

I'm loving these blanket patterns and colors.
I am going to try my hand at an afghan soon...
Crochetgranny stripe blanket

I'm loving this pin I found...
.
We all need to remember this and it can only help my nuggets to learn it early.

What are you loving on this snowy Indiana Wednesday?
(Don't forget to check out the other Wednesday "lovers" here!)

Room Tour #3 (Daisy)

I visited a kindergarten room for this episode of Room Tour.
I'm going to be honest...kindergarten freaks me out.
It's a different kind of monster.
I love second grade because the nuggets have developed some independence, know how to "do school" for the most part, can tie their own shoes and don't usually have bathroom accidents.
Daisy stepped in a few weeks into the school year to take this class.
This is her first year teaching and she's probably cried less than I did in my first week!
Cheers to adventures in teaching!

The view from the door to the left.

The view from the door to the right.

Her word wall.
I love that she's using her filing cabinet as the word wall.
I have a filing cabinet in my room that just takes up space.
I need to find something creative to do with it.

I love this bright carpet in her group area.
I am a huge fan of rainbows and strategic color in my classroom and I love the way this pops.

Classroom expectations.

The class pet, Toña.
She is an adorable rabbit.
I miss having a class pet, but my nuggets didn't have time to spend with it.
Such a pretty animal!

This is their class tree.
They wrote their names on the circles at the beginning of the year and change it with each season.

This is her behavior chart.
Green means "It's all good."
Yellow means "Walk 2 laps at recess or miss 5 minutes off of stations."
Red means "Walk laps the entire recess."
Grey means "A visit to the office."

I can't believe how little those nuggets seem!

Do you have any great rooms you've seen lately?

Sunday Social 3.10.13

I had a fantabulous weekend at the women's retreat at my mom's house.
However, it feels really good to be home.
Plus, Handsome Husband and I are catching up on last night's SNL.
JT is hilarious!
I love the former hosts chipping in as well.

This Week's Questions:

1.  What is one movie you are terrified to watch?
The Exorcist.
That movie absolutely terrified me.
I was going through a phase where I wanted to watch only horror movies.
So, my mom decided to let me watch The Exorcist, Candyman, and Halloween.
It scared me crapless, but didn't deter me from watching horror movies for quite a while.

2.  What is one TV show you have always wanted to get into but haven't yet?
I have a few.
The Office, 30 Rock, Revenge, and Grey's Anatomy.
Handsome Husband and I have quite a few shows we watch together already and I have shows that I have watched for years that are still on.
I am a creature of habit.

3.  What is one daring activity on your bucket list?
Uhhhh...I'm not very daring.
And, I've never really created a bucket list.
I have things I would like to do, but haven't written them down.

4.  Would you ever travel alone?
If driving back and forth to Maine counts, then I already have.
I moved to Maine (and lived with family) when I was 20.
I would love to travel alone now that I'm older.
The thought used to terrify me when I was younger, but I would like the experience.

5.  What activities do you like to do alone?
I love to go grocery shopping by myself.
I could seriously be in the store for hours.
I love to pop my earbuds in and browse.
I also love driving to work alone.
Whenever Handsome Husband and I meet someone who lives near us and works near me he offers to have me carpool...
I HATE that.
I love my 45 minutes of music before I get to school.

Next Week's Questions:
1.  What is your favorite thing to do on a rainy day?
2.  What is your favorite thing to do on a summer weekend?
3.  What is your favorite spring accessory.
4.  What is your favorite way to spend a winter day?
5.  What is your favorite season and why?
6.  What is the best birthday you've ever had?
(I think we just had this question...)

Thank Heaven It's Friday!

What. A. Week.
This week just felt physically heavy for some reason.
But, now it's the weekend so it's time to party!

I am spending the weekend at my mom's house for a women's retreat.
I'm very excited to hang out with some awesome women.

Here's my High Five for Friday:
(Check out the others here.)

1.  I stepped out of my box this week.
I am not super confident in my skinny jeans since I am a bit chunky, but I felt pretty good in my skinnies with my Converse sneaks.
My girl nuggets told me I looked cute.

 2.  This is the DISASTROUS text that my mother sent the man who plowed her driveway the other day.
Yeah...
She's never met him and then sends him this by accident.
I laughed so hard I cried while driving to school.
Her advice:
1.  Always wear your glasses when texting.
2.  Always make sure that you're sending it to the right person.

 3.  Our Tim McGraw tickets came in the mail this week!
Woot woot!

4.  I got these cute buckets at Target (Tar-jay) the other night.
I LOVE rainbows and bright colors, so these were right up my alley.
Thank you dollar bin.

5.  Apparently my friend L thought that Tar-jay was the name of one of my nuggets!
Too funny.
See, it's been a long week.

How has your week been?
Anything fun or interesting happen?

Nugget Funny

This video made me giggle so hard!
I'm definitely showing it to my nuggets tomorrow.

Sometimes we all need a pep talk.

I hope you had a great Thursday!
