I have had an AWESOME weekend.
I've done a whole lot of nothing.
Well, I have barely left the house, but I've gotten stuff done around here.
Mainly, working on my friend Lindsay's ring pillow for her wedding.
It is really starting to come together!

I also love to follow Handsome Husband. :)

I like following Rebel Wilson and Matthew Gray Gubler.

4.  Have you ever had a celeb respond to a tweet?
Nope.
Not yet anyway.

5.  What is your favorite store/brand to follow?
I love following Ali Oesch
She is my go-to jewelry gal and my favorite indoor cycling instructor!
The things she makes are amazing.
I have a hard time stopping in to see her without buying something!

6.  Give us three tweeps we should be following.
Well, obviously any of the people I've already mentioned.
And these folks:

Check me out on Twitter!

Have a great week!

Sunday Social (from the airport) 3.31.13

Happy Easter!
Our Lord is risen.
He is risen indeed!

I hope you are having a wonderfully relaxing Easter afternoon.
Handsome Husband and I are anxiously awaiting our flight to LA.
Therefore, I may or may not be getting a post in every night this week.
I'm going to be out having some fun!

This Week's Questions:
1.  What is your favorite kind of workout to do?
I LOVE indoor cycling.
It is such an amazing workout.
Plus, I have some pretty great gals right next to me each time.
Hi, Faye and Lori!

2.  What is your favorite guilty pleasure candy or sweet?
Ben and Jerry's ice cream.
I love the Americone Dream flavor the most at the moment.
Phish Food is a close second.
Plus, anything chocolate and peanut butter is pretty great, too.
Photo taken from here.

3.  What is one thing you continuously forget to do?
Take attendance and lunch count at school.
Seriously...I'm awful.

4.  Do you prefer Post-its or phone reminders?
I love both.
I am a Post-it addict.
I have an entire baggie of Post-its in my school bag at all times.
(Like, 25 pads or so.)
However, I also use phone reminders a lot.
I use them for things like hair appointments, the chiropractor and other things that I schedule ahead of time.

5.  What is your favorite picture currently on your phone that always makes you smile?
I just took this one today.
Lordy, I adore this lady!
I don't keep many photos on my phone since I'm constantly using them on here.

I hope you have a great week!
I know I will.

Sunday Social...A Day Late

So, don't mind me.
I spent yesterday afternoon relaxing in bed after a fun-filled weekend in Kalamazoo and didn't feel like thinking.
However, I still wanted to throw this post out there.

This Week's Questions:
(check out more posts here)

1.  What is your favorite thing about spring?
Oh, surely the smell of new life in the air.
I love watching the leaves come back on the trees,
the days getting longer,
and realizing just how much my nuggets have grown and changed.

2.  What is your favorite kind of flower to grow or receive?
I LOVE lilies.
One of my favorite things about the farmer's market in the summer is that one of the booths sells gorgeous bouquets with lilies and wildflowers.
(It doesn't hurt that they are only $6!!)

3.  What is your favorite nail polish color?
Uh...clear?
Does that count?
Just kidding...that just what I usually wear.
I really like Chinchilly by Essie.
It's a great neutral.
For my toes I usually get a black french tip.
It's a great punk-ish twist on a classic.

4.  What is your favorite outdoor activity?
Handsome Husband loves to drag me disc golfing.
I love to spend as much time outside reading as possible.
It doesn't hurt to have a pool around during this activity.
I love to float and read.
I have mastered the art of not getting my books wet.

5.  Do you have any fun spring plans??  Details!
Why, yes!
Handsome Husband and I are headed to LA on Sunday!
I've never been to California, so I'm super excited!
We also have 4 weddings before spring is officially over.
One is here in town, one in Indianapolis, one in Michigan, and one in Charleston.
Yikes!

Next Week's Questions:
1.  What is your favorite type of workout to do?
2.  What is your favorite guilty pleasure candy or sweet?
3.  What is one thing you continuously forget to do?
4.  Do you use Post-its or phone reminders? Why?
5.  Which favorite pictures currently on your phone always make you smile?

Thanks for reading through my late post!

Sunday Social 3.17.13

After napping most of the afternoon away, I am linking up with all of the folks here to bring you another Sunday Social.

This Week's Questions:

1.  What is your favorite thing to do on a rainy day?
I love to open the blinds so I can see the rain running down the window, curl up with some coffee or tea, and devour a good book.
It's either that or stay in bed all day...
Who doesn't love that?

2.  What is your favorite thing to do on a summer weekend?
I love getting together with our friends and having a conversation on a porch somewhere.
I don't get out much during the school year, so that is my time to catch up.

3.  What is your favorite spring accessory?
I wear my scarves year round but still love them in the spring.
This year (since venturing into the world of skinny jeans) I love cute flats in a bright color.
(I just bought some ADORABLE open-toe mint green flats with bows on them!  Love!)

4.  What is your favorite way to spend a winter day?
Yet again, I would love to spend it curled up on my couch.
However, there aren't many days where I get to do that during the winter being a teacher and all.
Bummer, dude.

5.  What is your favorite season and why?
I love both spring and fall.
I like chilly weather where you need to layer, but don't quite need a jacket all the time.
Plus I sweat SUPER easily, so I'm not really a fan of summer.

6.  What is the best birthday you've ever had?
I swear we just answered this one a couple of months ago, but oh well!
The best birthday I've ever had was my 16th birthday.
I went to a local Mexican restaurant with my 4 best guy friends.
My parents paid for our meal and we just laughed, told gross jokes and burped the whole time.
However, each birthday that I get to spend with Handsome Husband is also amazing.
I love knowing that I get to grow old with that cute dude.

What are your answers to these questions?

Next Week's Questions:

1.  What is your favorite thing about spring?
2.  What is your favorite kind of flower to grow or receive?
3.  What is your favorite nail polish color?
4.  What is your favorite outdoor activity?
5.  Do you have any fun spring plans?  Details.

I hope you have a great week!

Sunday Social 3.10.13

I had a fantabulous weekend at the women's retreat at my mom's house.
However, it feels really good to be home.
Plus, Handsome Husband and I are catching up on last night's SNL.
JT is hilarious!
I love the former hosts chipping in as well.

This Week's Questions:

1.  What is one movie you are terrified to watch?
The Exorcist.
That movie absolutely terrified me.
I was going through a phase where I wanted to watch only horror movies.
So, my mom decided to let me watch The Exorcist, Candyman, and Halloween.
It scared me crapless, but didn't deter me from watching horror movies for quite a while.

2.  What is one TV show you have always wanted to get into but haven't yet?
I have a few.
The Office, 30 Rock, Revenge, and Grey's Anatomy.
Handsome Husband and I have quite a few shows we watch together already and I have shows that I have watched for years that are still on.
I am a creature of habit.

3.  What is one daring activity on your bucket list?
Uhhhh...I'm not very daring.
And, I've never really created a bucket list.
I have things I would like to do, but haven't written them down.

4.  Would you ever travel alone?
If driving back and forth to Maine counts, then I already have.
I moved to Maine (and lived with family) when I was 20.
I would love to travel alone now that I'm older.
The thought used to terrify me when I was younger, but I would like the experience.

5.  What activities do you like to do alone?
I love to go grocery shopping by myself.
I could seriously be in the store for hours.
I love to pop my earbuds in and browse.
I also love driving to work alone.
Whenever Handsome Husband and I meet someone who lives near us and works near me he offers to have me carpool...
I HATE that.
I love my 45 minutes of music before I get to school.

Next Week's Questions:
1.  What is your favorite thing to do on a rainy day?
2.  What is your favorite thing to do on a summer weekend?
3.  What is your favorite spring accessory.
4.  What is your favorite way to spend a winter day?
5.  What is your favorite season and why?
6.  What is the best birthday you've ever had?
(I think we just had this question...)

Sunday Social 2.24.13

This week's Sunday Social is all about middle school and high school.
There aren't any pictures this week because I didn't have time to go digging through my boxes. :(
Check out the other links here.

This Week's Questions:
1.  What was your biggest middle school fashion mistake?
Oh lordy.
I had THE WORST perm in 7th grade.
It was a total pyramid.
Even my bangs were permed.
They were this little curls at the front of my hairline that stuck up kind of funny.
And...I had braces...gag.
(I will seriously try to find that picture because words can't sum up just how bad it was.)

2.  Who were your best friends in high school?
My best friends were Jason, Ronnie, Nick, and Melissa.
I didn't have a ton of girlfriends (as you can tell from above) because I hated the drama that went along with them.
I was definitely a guys girl.
I loved hanging out, watching action movies and begin gross. :)

3.  What was a typical weekend like for you in high school?
Oh my...I don't remember!
I probably went to some kind of sporting event on Friday or Saturday or hung out with my boyfriend.
Church on Sundays!

4.  Did you have any boyfriends?  Tell us about that...
I had a boyfriend for most of high school.
James during freshman and part of sophomore year.
Ryan during sophomore and junior year.
Nick during senior year.
I probably had a few dates thrown in there, too.

5.  Did you have any secret codes with your friends?  Spill!
We didn't have any secret codes, but my friend Lindsey and I liked to write phonetically and get a giggle out of it.
We weren't allowed to talk during study hall but sat across from each other.
I perfected writing upside down during this time.
I can still do this and it comes in super handy for teaching.
(My handwriting's sometimes better upside down!)

6.  If you could relive one day/moment/experience from middle school or high school what would it be?
Gross!
None of it.
I HATED high school.
The thought of doing any of it again gives me a stomach ache.
I don't live in the past. :)

Next Week's Questions:
1.  What are 5 songs you'll listen to the rest of your life?
2.  What are 5 things on your bucket list?
3.  Who are 5 celebs you'd love to hang out with for a day?
4.  What are 5 things you always carry in your purse?
5.  What are 5 books on your reading list?
6.  Share the last 5 pictures on your phone.

How was your high school experience?
Any stories to share?

Have a great week!

Sunday Social 2.17.13

It's that time again!
I'm linking up with Neely and the other folks here.

The focus of this week's questions is Valentine's Day.
Yes, yes, I know.
Valentine's Day was Thursday, but no biggie.

This Week's Questions:
1.  What was the best Valentine's Day you've ever had?
I really enjoyed my first Valentine's Day with Handsome Husband.
I framed an original Notre Dame Goal Line Stand photo that resides over the fireplace in our living room.
I could barely wait to give it to him because I was so stinking excited about it!

2.  What was the worst Valentine's Day you've ever had?
I honestly don't remember having a bad one.
I'm not saying that they were all awesome, but I don't have any terrifyingly vivid memories of a horrible day.

3.  What did you do for Valentine's Day this year?
At the end of the school day my class had a quick Valentine's Day celebration.
I was VERY happy to take back my counter!

My nuggets really showered me with love.

Handsome Husband and I went back to the restaurant where we first met.

4.  What is the best Valentine's Day idea if you're single?
Get a mani/pedi, rent a great movie, open a bottle of wine and make (or buy) yourself your favorite meal.
Make it about you, man!
(And then get your tush back in the gym the next day!)

5.  What is your favorite Valentine's candy?
I have to pick ONE??!!!!
I really like the assorted chocolates that come in the heart-shaped boxes.

6.  What is your favorite Valentine's memory from your childhood?
I loved getting a giant heart-shaped chocolate chip cookie from my pops.

Next Week's Questions:
1.  What was your biggest middle school fashion mistake?
2.  Who were your best friends in high school?  Pictures?
3.  What was a typical weekend like for you in high school?
4.  Did you have any boyfriends?  Tell us about that.
5.  Did you have any secret codes with your friends?  Spill your secrets!
6.  If you could relive one day/moment/experience from middle school or high school what would it be?

Have a great week!
I know I will...it's only a 4-dayer for me!

Sunday Social 2.10.13

This weekend FLEW by!
However, I'm happy to end it by linking up with Neely at A Complete Waste of Makeup.

This Week's Questions:
1.  What was your first car?
My first car was a 1986 Ford Taurus.
It was originally white, but mostly dingy when I had it.
It was held together with "New England chrome" aka duct tape.

2.  Who was your favorite childhood teacher?
Mr. Allen.
He was my third grade teacher back in Maine.
I LOVED that he did spelling songs (he'd pick a song, take words from it for our spelling words and have us sing it each day).
My favorite was "Splish Splash".

3.  Were you involved in any sports/extracurricular activities?
I was ALWAYS in choir...I couldn't function without music.
I was also in basketball, volleyball (middle school), softball, and diving.
I was also a drama geek in high school.

4.  What was your favorite birthday party?
My 16th birthday was definitely the best.
I was super sick of girl drama, so I invited my 4 best guy friends to dinner.
It was the most relaxed and fun birthday ever.

5.  Who was your teen celebrity crush?
JTT, duh!
Who couldn't love those dimples?!

6.  What show/movie did your parents not allow you to watch?
Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles.
Seriously.

Next Week's Questions: All About Valentine's Day
1.  What is the best Valentine's Day you've ever had?
2.  What is the worst Valentine's Day you've ever had?
3.  What do you plan on doing for Valentine's Day this year?
4.  What is the best Valentine's idea if you're single?

Thanks for stopping by!

Sunday Social 2.3.13

Happy Super Bowl Sunday!!
Seriously...when are they going to make the Monday after the Super Bowl an off day or move the Super Bowl forward one weekend???
Did you know that tomorrow is the most called-off day of the entire year?
I don't truly care since I will go to bed at my normal time no matter what this year since my Pats aren't in it, but other years it stinks to not be able to watch the entire game.
Oh well...onto this week's Sunday Social.
Don't forget to check out all of the other bloggers that have linked up with Neely.

This Week's Questions:
1.  If you were stuck on an island, what two items would you want to have?
I would love to have an unlimited supply of books and music.

2.  What are two TV shows you'd watch over and over?
Oh my heart!  I have to pick only two??!!
Since they one is based off of the other, I would have to say CSI and CSI:NY count as one. :)
The other one would be Criminal Minds.
And to be fair, I DO watch these shows over and over.
Handsome Husband and madre are rolling their eyes as they read this because they know it's true.
They could also add 10 shows to this list.

3.  If your house was on fire what two things, aside from family, pets, etc, would you grab?
The first two things that came to mind were my phone and wallet.
I have no idea why.
I have about a million things that matter to me.
This is a hard question and I'm sorry if my answer sounds shallow...it's not meant to.

4.  What are you two most favorite articles of clothing?
I love wearing scarves.  I wear one almost everyday.
I have around 30 give or take.
My favorite one of the moment is grey with white polka-dots.
I get compliments every time I wear it.
My second favorite article of clothing is...GAH...nothing!
I mean, I LIKE my jeans, cardigans, sweatshirts, and all that, but nothing really strikes me at the moment.
Hence, the reason I am working out like a fiend and watching what I eat.
I'm hoping that once I lose weight and am required to go shopping that I will find something I love.
However, I ADORED my wedding dress...does that count?

5. What are two movies you saw in the past year you would recommend to us?
Well, even though it barely squeaked in for 2012, I would recommend Les Miserables.
I saw it for the first time with Handsome Husband on Christmas Day.
I feel a little ashamed saying that it was the first time, being a music buff and all.
I know all the music, but I hadn't seen it.
The second movie I would recommend is Pitch Perfect.
It is aca-larious. (If you watch the movie, you'll see why I said that.)
I love Rebel Wilson and she rocks out in that movie.
Anna Kendrick made a great moody, wanna-be DJ and I have a total voice-crush on her.
Plus, the remixes are AMAZE-BALLS!
Everyone in that movie has a rocking voice and it makes me wish I was back in college and performing again!

6.  What are your two biggest guilty pleasures?
The answer to this one changes continuously.
I would say that one is consistently ice cream.
Any kind will do, but Ben & Jerry's is my favorite.
The other would have to be staying in bed all day.
I am currently typing this while lounging but also did a TON of school work.

 Next Week's Questions:
1.  What was your first car?
2.  Who was your favorite childhood teacher?
3.  Were you involved in any sports/extracurricular activities?
4.  What was your favorite birthday party?
5.  Who was your teen celebrity crush?
6.  What show/movie did you parents not allow you to watch?

I hope you all have a fantastic week!

Laters,

Mrs. B

Sunday Social (1.27.13)

I can't believe that (almost) 4 weeks of 2013 have already gone by.
I was distracted last Sunday and didn't get my post done.
I'm ok with that...I was living life. :)
Here's my roundup for this week:

This Week's Questions
1.  What is your ideal way to relax?
My ideal way to relax is hanging with Handsome Husband, crocheting, or reading.

2.  Where is your favorite place to be?
My favorite place to be is right where I am.  I LOVE my home.  It took a long time (like, for serious, almost a year after the wedding) for me to feel like this house was OURS and not HIS.  HH has lived in this house for 10 years and it was a major bachelor pad.  He is VERY SLOWLY adjusting to having pretties around the house and towels that are for show and not for wiping.
My favorite room in the house is the sunporch.  It's a pretty shade of green and super comfortable.

3.  Who do you consider your biggest role model.
I have two.  My parents are seriously the bomb.  They are far from perfect (sorry ma and pops) but they have set an amazing example for me in everything from problem solving to living a life focused on God to their loving marriage.
Ma and Pops, you have prepared me for a great, big world...Thanks!

4.  What will your life look like in 3 years?
In three years I hope to be a mom, still teaching my heart out, loving on Handsome Husband each and every day (even when it's hard) and maybe a bit skinnier. :)

5.  If you could go back and change one decision, what would it be?
I wouldn't change anything.  Even the most negative experiences have brought me closer to the person I am meant to be.  Everything is a learning experience.
(I rock my growth mindset with style.  If you're wondering about that, check out this book.)

6.  What is your biggest accomplishment in life thus far?
Becoming a teacher.  I love getting to mold little minds and characters everyday.  My nuggets rock.  Plus, where else would you find answers like this on a test?

Next Week's Questions:
1.  If you were stuck on an island, what two items would you want to have?
2.  What are two TV shows you'd watch over and over?
3.  If your house was on fire what two things aside from family, pets, etc would you grab?
4.  What are your two most favorite articles of clothing?
  5.  What two movies you saw in the past year would you recommend to us?
6.  What are your two biggest guilty pleasures?

Thanks for reading!

Have a fantastical week.

Mrs. B

Sunday Social 1/13/13: A Reintroduction

Hello, hello!
Welcome back for this week's edition of Sunday Social.
I am linking up with Neely over at A Complete Waste of Makeup.

This Week's Questions:
(These are meant to reintroduce ourselves)

1.  What is the name of your blog?  How long have you been blogging?
My blog is called Let Them Eat Paste.  It's a play on "Let them eat cake."  Growing up, my dad always told the stories of how he would eat paste while at school.  This is back when it actually looked good!!  You know, the cap had a stick, it had a goopy, thick consistency, and Adam Sandler made it even more popular in Billy Madison.

I started this blog 2 1/2 years ago when I first started teaching.  It was meant to document my adventures (and I've had a ton!) but with privacy laws and other things I couldn't tell the stories I wanted to.  Bummer, dude.  Seriously...these kids come up with the best stuff!  I stopped blogging for a loooonnnnngggg time (like 2 years) but was inspired after beginning to follow many blogs over the summer.  I realized that this is MY BLOG and I don't have to write for anyone but me.  I'm not saying I wouldn't love to hit the 100 follower mark eventually, but I haven't found my niche yet.

2.  Why do you blog?
I blog because I love my life.  I adore being a teacher and hope that comes through in my posts.  Teaching is HARD WORK but amazingly rewarding each and every day.  I also love learning new things and sharing what I learn about them.  I know I am not the first person to ever crochet anything, get a great camera, teach awesome nuggets, love my Handsome Husband, or love cooking, but I'm also not the last.  Someone will read a post and be able to connect with me.  I also blog because I know that I have some great friends and family out there who support me in my blogging adventure because they know I enjoy it.

3.  What is the first blog you ever followed?
The first blog I ever followed was my cousin Courtney's blog Life and Style: A to Z.  Hers was the only one for a lllllooooonnnngggggg time.  Once I actually started using my Blogger account and following blogs it was The Small Things Blog and From My Grey Desk.  (They are sisters and great bloggers.  I look forward to their posts each and every day.)

4.  What is your favorite post you wrote in 2012?
I would have to say that I love most of them, but my all-time favorite is Melt, Squish, Sprinkle, YUM! because it was the first post with my new camera and I loved the pictures I was able to take and I felt like a domestic goddess while I was working on it.

5.  What are your blogging goals for 2013?
I would like to get to 50 followers.  I know it's just little pictures of people hanging out on my computer screen, but I would like to know that what I love is being loved by others.

6.  What are your top 6 blogs to follow?
     In no particular order:
The question only asks for 6, but I love all the blogs I follow, which is why I follow them!

Sunday Social 1/6/13

Well, tonight marks my last night of break.
I can't believe that Holiday Season 2012 is over!
I'm linking up with Neely at A Complete Waste of Makeup to avoid thinking about school or doing anything school related bring you the weekly Sunday Social post.

This Week's Questions:

1)  Do you plan to change any of your eating habits in the new year?
Oh yeah, buddy!!
I am planning on watching my portion sizes since I have to remember that just because I'm as hungry as a horse, it doesn't mean I need to eat the equivalent of one.
I also need to work on not having a reward mentality when it comes to food.
It's hard to lose weight when any workout I do I reward with food or wine!

2)  Any workout tips to get us back in shape after the holidays?
Bwahahahahaha!
Yeah...don't follow my advice!
Just kidding.  (Sort of)
Here is what I am doing for myself:
I have a goal to work out 3-4 times a week.  Notice I didn't say go to the gym.
The gym's not always possible, but I need to try to be active no matter what.

I have started a "Workout Jar" to motivate myself more.
Each time I work out I will put one dollar into the jar.
Once it's full, I get to use the money to buy myself a new article of clothing.
It's not a new idea...I've seen it out there.
(I actually made it through Target AND Marshalls without buying any clothes.  It was HARD!)
I also got an Old Navy gift card for Christmas, but I have decided that I need to lose 5 pounds (and keep it off) before I can use it.  Also, I can only buy one thing for each 5 pounds.
I love to shop so that's a HUGE motivator.
Plus, this will help Handsome Husband and I save more money. :)

I have also downloaded the MyFitnessPal app for my phone.
It helps track my calories and exercise.
It's a way to keep me accountable.

3)  What was your favorite thing you did over the holidays?
Hanging out with family and friends always makes the #1 slot.
I also loved learning how to crochet something new (I learned 4 new things over break!);
Hanging out with Handsome Husband;
Being able to STOP THINKING;
Eating WWWWAAAAAYYYYY too much good food;
especially my FIL's antipasta...seriously...to die for!  Gah!

4)  What is something you hope to accomplish in 2013 that you did not in 2012?
I need to get serious about getting in shape.
It's not going to happen overnight, be easy or happen because of anyone but me.

5)  Name 3 things happening this year you are excited about and why.
1.  My friend Lindsay is marrying her best friend in June and I get to stand by her side.
2.  Handsome Husband and I are going to LA for Spring Break.
3.  I turn 29 in March and am looking forward to celebrating the last year of my twenties.

Next Week's Questions:
They are taking it back to the beginning and doing a get-to-know-you round.

2)  Why do you blog?
3)  What is the first blog you ever followed?
4)  What is your favorite post you wrote in 2012?
5)  What are your blogging goals for 2013?
6)  What are your top 3 favorite blogs to follow?
