February Birchbox Review

This month's Birchbox theme was "Red Carpet Ready".

Here's the run-down:

1.  These WEI Pomegranate Buffing Beads were the "Beauty Extra" in my box this month.
I liked that I could add them to my normal facial cleanser to make it a scrub!
If I traveled a lot these would make a fantastic addition to my travel kit because of their easy portability and non-liquid state (so that I would have more room for all of the other junk I always bring when I travel).
At home, however, I forget that I have them because, seriously, I'm not going to store them in the shower and am a bit of a space-cadet at barely-5-am in the morning.
Other than that, I like them!

2.  One of my most favorite things about my monthly Birchboxes is that I get a new perfume monthly.
I was excited to get this Couture La La by Juicy Couture perfume.
It tends to be a bit heavy so I apply it sparingly, but I really like the scent.

3.  Luckily, I had a three-day weekend right after getting my box, so I was able to take the time to actually use the WEI mud mask that was included.
The description says that each pod is enough for a single use, but I found that it was more than enough...like, enough for 3 uses.
That's not a bad thing, but since the lid was a foil-peel-back type I couldn't reseal the container.
Bummer.
I applied it and chilled with a book for a while before washing it off.
With some mud masks you have to just about scrub the top layer of your skin off in order to get the mask off but not with this one.
It washed off easily and left my skin feeling refreshed.

4.  I love getting hair products in my boxes and TIGI is one of my favorite brands.
I have played around with this Catwalk dry shampoo a bit.
I liked the piecey look it gave my hair, but with my hair being so short it seemed to go away quickly.
I prefer a wax or pomade to style my hair when it's short.
Maybe I'd feel differently if my hair was still long.

5.  I've gotten this Jouer tinted moisturizer a few times in my boxes.
Maybe I have enough now to actually try it!
The sizes are so stinking small that it is hard to truly know if I like it.

6.  This was a nice little bonus to get in my box!
It barely made it through the pictures!

Do you get Birchbox?
If so, what did you get in yours this month??

Sunday Social 2.17.13

It's that time again!
I'm linking up with Neely and the other folks here.

The focus of this week's questions is Valentine's Day.
Yes, yes, I know.
Valentine's Day was Thursday, but no biggie.

This Week's Questions:
1.  What was the best Valentine's Day you've ever had?
I really enjoyed my first Valentine's Day with Handsome Husband.
I framed an original Notre Dame Goal Line Stand photo that resides over the fireplace in our living room.
I could barely wait to give it to him because I was so stinking excited about it!

2.  What was the worst Valentine's Day you've ever had?
I honestly don't remember having a bad one.
I'm not saying that they were all awesome, but I don't have any terrifyingly vivid memories of a horrible day.

3.  What did you do for Valentine's Day this year?
At the end of the school day my class had a quick Valentine's Day celebration.
I was VERY happy to take back my counter!

My nuggets really showered me with love.

Handsome Husband and I went back to the restaurant where we first met.

4.  What is the best Valentine's Day idea if you're single?
Get a mani/pedi, rent a great movie, open a bottle of wine and make (or buy) yourself your favorite meal.
Make it about you, man!
(And then get your tush back in the gym the next day!)

5.  What is your favorite Valentine's candy?
I have to pick ONE??!!!!
I really like the assorted chocolates that come in the heart-shaped boxes.

6.  What is your favorite Valentine's memory from your childhood?
I loved getting a giant heart-shaped chocolate chip cookie from my pops.

Next Week's Questions:
1.  What was your biggest middle school fashion mistake?
2.  Who were your best friends in high school?  Pictures?
3.  What was a typical weekend like for you in high school?
4.  Did you have any boyfriends?  Tell us about that.
5.  Did you have any secret codes with your friends?  Spill your secrets!
6.  If you could relive one day/moment/experience from middle school or high school what would it be?

Have a great week!
I know I will...it's only a 4-dayer for me!

High Five For Friday 2.15.13

Can I get a "Woot woot!!" for a three-day weekend??!!
(I'll pause so y'all can get your "Woot woot!" on...)
Don't forget to check out all the great links here.

Here's my weekly recap:

1.  My nuggets and I had a great week filled with hard work.
I have the papers to grade to prove it.
I can't wait to share some of the work that we have been doing with complete sentences!

2.  I got my hair cut.
I went shorter this time and really like it.
I was inspired by Ginnifer Goodwin.
That girl can rock a pixie HARD.

3.  I can't get enough of this face.
I can't wait to see her at church on Sunday!
Oh my gosh...seriously!!
She's so cute!

4.  I had a GREAT time with Handsome Husband on our date last night.
He's out with the boys and my pops this weekend so I'm chilling out and grading a TON of papers.

5.  My nuggets LOVED these valentines that I made for them.
Some even showed me that they have them hanging in their lockers.
I love those nuggets.

I hope you all have a great weekend!

Valentine's Day Re-cap

So, yet another Valentine's Day has come and gone.
As a wife I love celebrating another day of loving my husband fiercely.
As a teacher I find it a borderline manic day.

Tensions run pretty high on this day...more so than most others during the year.
I had 5 (FIVE!!!) students cry today.
My room was a total wreck when the day was done.
I avoided it for more than 45 minutes after school because I couldn't deal.

I started my day off right.
Yeah.
I totally have a Keurig hanging out in my room.
It keeps me sane!

This beautiful little blessing proudly showed off the hat I made for her.
I seriously want to eat her up.
This picture brings so much joy to my heart because she is just so stinking happy!

I was soooooooo ready to get this stuff off my counters.
I may not be the cleanest person at home, but I am OCD at school.
A place for everything and everything in it's place.

This does NOT show everything in it's place.
My desk threw up.

Here's what my nuggets got for me.
Not pictured are the cute ring (I rocked that bling all day) and some pretty daisies.
I think I'm set for the next year.

My kids really show the love each year.
I love stressing to them that this is not the only day to show that you care for someone.

They REALLY loved the little hearts that I crocheted for them.
One little nugget was bawling at one point because she thought that she hadn't gotten one from me because it was buried at the bottom of her bag.  (Disaster averted!  It was there!)
No matter how often my nuggets make me want to pull my hair out I really love them and adore seeing their smiling little faces each day.

On my way home I picked this handsome dude up and we went for dinner.
He picked the place.

He decided that we needed to go to the place where we met (at a NYE party).
He is so thoughtful.

The cooks in the kitchen had fun with his dinner.
We were feeling the love.

When reading the menu I totally thought that this said, "Flour tortillas filled with MSG..."
Reading fail.
We giggled.

I know that today is a Hallmark holiday, but I really enjoy spending it with my kids each year (no matter how stressed I am at the end of the day!) and celebrating my love for my husband (which I do every day anyway!).

Handsome Husband added to my gift and made me a mix "tape".
I listened to it to and from work.
He put a lot of thought into it.
Thanks babe!

I hope you all had a fantastic Hallmark holiday, even if you didn't celebrate.

What I Love Wednesday 2.13.13

It's that time of the week again!
(I was totally going to write a post about how my kids are working on speaking and writing in complete sentences, but my brain doesn't seem to be working...maybe later.)
I am linking up with Jamie and her buddies here.

I'm loving that my when my father-in-law found out I was sick he made me soup.
What a guy!

I'm loving that I am a pen addict and proud.
(I have two sets of these pens...one for school and one for my purse...love them!)

I'm loving the hilariousness of my nuggets having whole cucumbers (one each!!!) as their snack through our fresh fruits and veggies program at school.
They had a blast biting off both ends and spitting them into the trash.
Oh the little things that make a person happy!
(That worksheet is one of the ways we are working on writing complete sentences...more on that to come.)

I'm loving these adorable little valentines I made for my nuggets.
I can't wait for them to see them!
(At least the girls...and some of the boys...I have some nuggets who will love them and some who will think, "Eh.")

I'm loving my two new camera cases that Handsome Husband got for me for Valentine's day!
He scrounged around on Ebay and found great deals on both which is why I got two!
I love that I now have one for major storage (lenses and other extras) and a light one for travel.
The travel one was tops on my list because we are going to L.A. in April and I want to bring my camera.

What are you loving this Wednesday?
I hope you all have a happy Valentine's Day!

The Valentine Gift for my Nuggets

So, I have a bit of a fascination with crocheting the hearts that I found here.

I knew that I had to use them as gifts for my kids, but I wasn't quite sure how.

Then while reading this blog she linked into this blog post which showed a very simple way to turn these into a cute gift.

Here are my cuh-ute gifts for my nuggets:

These may be my new favorite valentine!
They only take about 2 minutes each to make and are a great stress-reliever for me!

Last year I made the heart-shaped crayons (you melt them in silicone molds shaped like hearts) but peeling the crayons was a very tedious task and I do believe that some of the marks I found around school were the product of that gift.

This is a much more "me" way to say, "Happy Valentine's Day!"

Are you doing anything crafty for Valentine's Day?
Let me know!

Sunday Social 2.10.13

This weekend FLEW by!
However, I'm happy to end it by linking up with Neely at A Complete Waste of Makeup.

This Week's Questions:
1.  What was your first car?
My first car was a 1986 Ford Taurus.
It was originally white, but mostly dingy when I had it.
It was held together with "New England chrome" aka duct tape.

2.  Who was your favorite childhood teacher?
Mr. Allen.
He was my third grade teacher back in Maine.
I LOVED that he did spelling songs (he'd pick a song, take words from it for our spelling words and have us sing it each day).
My favorite was "Splish Splash".

3.  Were you involved in any sports/extracurricular activities?
I was ALWAYS in choir...I couldn't function without music.
I was also in basketball, volleyball (middle school), softball, and diving.
I was also a drama geek in high school.

4.  What was your favorite birthday party?
My 16th birthday was definitely the best.
I was super sick of girl drama, so I invited my 4 best guy friends to dinner.
It was the most relaxed and fun birthday ever.

5.  Who was your teen celebrity crush?
JTT, duh!
Who couldn't love those dimples?!

6.  What show/movie did your parents not allow you to watch?
Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles.
Seriously.
